National Gallery Singapore Rebrand
Rebranding Singapore’s top visual arts museum.
(View the full brand guidelines here.)
For this project, I was challenged to design rebrand an existing company and to learn how to visually communicate the brand more effectively. Coming from Singapore, I decided to rebrand one of my favorite places — National Gallery Singapore.
The National Gallery Singapore is Singapore’s leading visual arts museum with the largest public display of Singaporean and Southeast Asian modern art. Located in the Downtown Core of Singapore, the Gallery consists of two national buildings: the old Supreme Court and City Hall.
Historical. Old and new. Sophisticated, progressive and contemporary. Proud of their own heritage.
These were some of the words to set the tone for my brand. At the heart of the identity is a new iconic logo—drawn from the Gallery’s architecture and a conceptual representation of the notion of expanding and extending. Across all communications the logo connects with visual content via a simple and flexible graphic system.
Above is a poster series for the Gallery, based on grids I have designed below, meant for upcoming events and shows.
